Local government officials protest new superstore land-use bill

September 12, 2011 by Bill Fulton

VICTORVILLE • A group of local elected officials gathered Friday to voice staunch opposition to a bill they say would block big-box retailers from opening up in the High Desert.

SB 469, which now awaits Gov. Jerry Brown’s approval, would require developers of superstores with more than 90,000 square feet and with at least 10 percent of sales space devoted to groceries to submit new economic impact reports before receiving a permit.
